I've been playing the heck out of Saints Row: The Third for the PC. It's seriously one of the best, if not the best open world crime city games I've played. And it plays so well on the PC platform. Smooth performance, 360 controller support, great graphics, no GUI or menu issues..
Here's a few more videos I've made while playing the game:
Rollin' in the Purple Hummer
Completing a Survival Round
Secret Money Pallet
Heli Assault Side Mission

One Hour In - Saints Row: The Third on PC
Saints Row: The Third is the third entry to the Saints Row game series if the title of the game wasn't clear enough. I never played the original Saints Row on the 360 and only dabbled with Saints Row 2 on the PC enough to realize the controls and performance overall wasn't something I wanted to endure. Saints Row was (and still is perhaps) considered a Grand Theft Auto knock-off, taking the open-world, crime-city game themes and mechanics from GTA and adding a bit here and there. Saints Row 2 upped the ante a bit in the outlandish department and offered a wide variety of fun and zany things to accomplish in the game and now, Saints Row 3 blows the universe apart with its level of crazy stuff to do, and I'm just one hour in.
I'm going to come right out and say I didn't enjoy GTA4. I played it on the PS3, got to the last island and just felt like I had done just about everything I had cared to do. I had bowled my last game. Answered my last phone call. Narrowly escaped the cops one that final time. The game had grown tiresome long before I reached the third island but I had pressed on hoping the game would lose the serious tone and loosen up a bit and get crazy like Vice City and San Andreas were. It didn't seem to happen and it honestly felt like they had sacrificed gameplay and "fun" for this more serious tone. The DLC helped alot and I actually enjoyed what I played of the GTA4 DLC more than the original game. GTA4 had plenty of positives going for it, but as a "GTA" game, it felt lacking in a few areas.
One hour in, Saints Row: The Third already feels like what I hoped GTA4 would have been. Or at least close. It hasn't done anything revolutionary here with the franchise or the genre, but what it has done is blossomed what is great about the genre, cranking everything up to 11 and doesn't take itself so seriously and remembers it's supposed to be a fun escape for gamers. Around the 2nd mission or so, you get a UAV weapon. Not as a temporary weapon you use for that mission. As a permanent weapon in your arsenal. As long as you have ammo for the device, you can whip it out and take out a group of gang members a few blocks away.
Speaking of whipping it out, you also get a baseball bat-sized female sex toy almost right from the start so there's that. Your weapon cache grows larger as time goes on; I'm up to about 10 weapons right now and switching between them is easy with the mouse or with a gamepad.
Driving feels solid this time around with a heavy lean on "arcade" style controls. Which is a nice welcome over Saints Row 2 on the PC, which I had trouble with. You can drive a wide variety of vehicles and store them all at your garage. Very early on you get a hangout with an attached garage. You drive your car into the garage, you get out, it disappears and is then stored in your garage. You can store tons of vehicles in the garage and then retrieve any one of them from the garage. You also get the ability to call up a gang member to bring you a vehicle at anytime which is pretty kick ass.
Other miscellaneous things I have done include:
- Mini-missions involving a rather large tank I get to control, trying to amass X amount of dollars in damage before the time runs out. The tank has a cannon and a machine gun attached and lays waste nicely.
- Escorted a friend in his car from a helicopter armed with a rocket launcher.
- Jumped off of my penthouse suites landing pad and parachuted down to the streets below.
- Run and jumped feet first into many cars, often times knocking the driver out in the process.
- Customized my Hummer with a purple paint job, purple interior, large wheels, greater speed, ramming power and durability, and spinning blades that come out from the wheels.
- Rained down hell using my UAV on many unsuspecting enemies.
- Assaulted a BSDM party/lair which ended in an all out, hell on wheels human gimp powered chariot style race with me shooting bad guys chasing us in their chariots.
- Flown a helicopter on a chase mission
- Driven a boat
- Got involved in a gameshow type setup which had me running through an obstacle course setup shooting at popup boards and enemies dressed in animal suits but DONT SHOOT THE PANDAS! Flames, electro fences, make it to the exit.. Pretty crazy.
All within the first hour or so. Overall, I like Saints Row: The Third a whole lot, I'm playing it on the PC with a 360 controller and mouse/keyboard controls with zero issues. No framerate issues, graphical glitches to note, very smooth. I'll be checking out co-op tonight and should have more video to report back with.
If you've got Saints Row: The Third and have any thoughts, leave them in the comments! If you want to see Saints Row: The Third in action for the first hour, check out this video.

Saints Row: The Third Compilation 1
First compilation video showing off what you can expect for the first hour or so of Saints Row: The Third.
Watch Me Play - Saints Row The Third on PC
Here's some quick, 20 second clips taken from the in-game recorder from the PC version of Saints Row The Third. I'll eventually package these and others into a nice montage of sorts, but for now, these are fun so I figured I'd show them off.
Saints Row The Third is now available on PC, PS3, and XBOX 360. So far, about 1 hour or so in and I'm loving this game.
